Artist course

Vanessa Esposito was born in Tahiti. During her childhood, she was reared with the sounds of her island and with the instruments her father used to play: electronic keyboards Ems Aks and Gibson…

Vanessa Esposito - Arketype Project

She first trained in dance and music, then in 1983, she joined a traditional dance company led by Tumata Robinson, and she became familiar with the subtle Polynesian rhythms on the stage of the intercontinental Tahara’a Hotel in Tahiti .

From 1985 to 1989, she began learning musical theory as well as the piano, at the “conservatoire” of Papeete.

In 1989, she left Tahiti and settled in France where she gained a lot of experience from various artists. She decided then to study the guitar and composition.

From 1992 to 1999, she took a “Graphism and Visual Communication” higher course in Paris- Le Met de Penninghen/ Ecole du Dragon and l’ECV - Paris.

Deeply interested in image and sound, she decided to take a course in Montpellier in “Stage Management”, while attending Bruno D’Auzon’s acousmatic music classes in Nîmes Conservatoire.

Aurora - Arketype Project

In April 2002, this multi-talented artist started her musical career in creating her Arketype Project “live”, presented in Paris on the “Effervetrances / Gaïa Concept- La Locomotive” stage. This first performance was the outcome of a long-term musical research and reflection.
The artist acquired her first “home studio”, and she shaped up Arketype Project as an Ethno-Acoustic concept, for which she was much encouraged.
Consequently, the project led her to record her first titles:”Nuclear Sun and Tribute” (by Gaïa Concept and XIII Bis Records), also appearing in “Password in Love” and “Transloco Express

In 2003, she collaborated closely with performers in the South Pacific and in Europe, creating the group called “Les Electrons Libres”, and she started up a radio programme “Les Météorites”, broadcast on Star FM Tahiti Radio for the promotion of “Musiques Actuelles”, (four hours of DJ mix from international stage and “live” concerts every week).
This programme will be the start of electronic music broadcasting in French Polynesia.

Beyond her enriching artistic collaborations, she offered a real creative exchange and proposed her “savoir-faire” for structures organising performances in the South Pacific, in France and in Switzerland as well: preparation, organisation and promotion of musical tours, communication with media…

Through her travels and her musical search, Vanessa kept performing in “live” concerts and “dj set” between Europe and French Polynesia. She explored the specificity of “solo” on an electronic stage, and expressed freely in her musical and scenic projections.

In 2005, in search of autonomy and improvement, she got into the SAE Institute in Paris, in “Electronic Music Production” department, and she succeeded as the first of her class, with honours.
In 2006, she trained at the GRIM EDIF (upper school of performing techniques) in Lyon, in the class “Audio Producer” (Logic Pro) of Nicolas Saffray.

After training in MAO (computer music), she returned to acoustic instruments in order to make hers the essentials in music.
Then, she followed her academic musical education: singing, piano, oriental music classes and work shops with famous teachers such as Paul Perez, Khaled Ben Yahia, Marie-José Amand, Benoît Richou and Tania Ehrhardt, in expectation of a fusion album where Vanessa Esposito, alias Aurora B. will propose a lot of her compositions.

The urge to call up an intrinsic universe, led her to come close to the artist Toirès. Both were eager to create new artistic adventures, and the idea of a collaboration made its way.
One year after, Mahana Bay Label was born: an independent label which now welcomes the two performers’ creative projects and the talented young artists’ as well.
